Canning and Picking

We are in the midst of picking every day now and canning every other day. Today we picked tomatoes, green beans, corn, banana peppers and cucumbers. We also canned nine jars of salsa and four of pickled banana peppers.
The garden is doing well despite the torrential rains that have become common most every day. Everything is wet and needs a couple days of no rain to dry out.
Also, our lemon trees are full of golf ball sized lemons and our fig trees are full too. Figs should come in the next 2 weeks while the lemons are due in the fall.

Picking lots of tomatoes

This is one of my favorite times of year, the tomatoes are being picked in abundance every day. We canned 5 more quarts of whole tomatoes and as you can see still have a table full.
We are also picking green means, egg plant, corn (20 ears) and jalapeƱo peppers.

We also picked 20 ears of corn, cucumbers and egg plants too.

Harvest June 30

We picked more green beans today and also peppers, tomatoes, egg plant, cucumbers and raspberries. We also canned 5 pints of pickled banana peppers. The main crop of tomatoes is still a week or so away but we are picking 10-15 a day.

A typical summer scene in our kitchen- soaking corn for grilling and canning vegetables.
